
BIOGRAPHY
Milan Hibšer
majored in Philosophy and Religious Culture at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb. Upon completing his first degree, he enrolled in the Albe Vidaković Institute of Church Music in Zagreb, obtaining a bachelor’s in Church Music. His organ professor was Prof. Mirta Kudrna and professor of improvisation, Prof. Ante Knešaurek.
Milan Hibšer went on to further gain a master's degree in Organ and Church Music at the Music Academy in Ljubljana (Slovenia), finishing with the honorary title of Summa Cum Laude. His mentors were Prof. Mario Perestegi (organ), Prof. Max Strmčnik (improvisation), and Prof. Ivan Florjanc (organ composition). Hibšer received the Prešeren Award from Ljubljana’s Music Academy for a successfully interpreted master's recital performed at the Franciscan Church in Ljubljana.
He regularly attends seminars and master classes in organ music interpretation from all historical periods. Some of his esteemed professors were José Luis González Uriol (Spain), Roman Perucki (Poland), Karen de Pastel (Austria), Daniel Drilo (Germany), Gabriel de Bestione Camboulas (France), Lorenzo Ghielmi (Italy), as well as many others.
Hibšer is an associate member of the Croatian Composers' Society and the Croatian Society of Music Artists. As an organist, accompanist, arranger, and improviser, he has recorded several CDs. He also composes liturgical and choir pieces, as well as organ solos.
In 2018 and 2019, Hibšer received two bronze medals for his own original scores at the Cro Patria International Choir Competition. He is the main organist at the Shrine of St. Anthony of Padua in Zagreb, and occasionally in the Zagreb Cathedral. Hibšer is one of the few Croatian organists who is active in organ concert improvisation, performing in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Czech Republic and Hungary. He has played at the following most distinguished organ festivals: The Zagreb Cathedral Organ, Heferer Organ Festival, Sounds of the Zagreb Cathedral Organ, Ars Organi Sisciae, Organ Heritage of the Island of Vis, Organ Evenings in the Požega Cathedral, Petar Nakić Organ Festival, etc.
Milan Hibšer is an editorial board member of the Sancta Cecilia Sacred Music Journal, one of the oldest periodicals in Croatia.
He teaches organ improvisation, organography, and organ performance at the Institute of Church Music at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Zagreb.

Diplomirao je filozofiju i religijsku kulturu na Filozofskom fakultetu Družbe Isusove u Zagrebu. Nakon studija filozofije upisuje Institut za crkvenu glazbu Katoličkog bogoslovnog fakulteta u Zagrebu gdje orgulje studira i diplomira kod prof. Mirte Kudrne a improvizaciju kod prof. Ante Knešaureka.
Redovito pohađa seminare i majstorske tečajeve interpretacije orguljaške glazbe od kojih valja istaknuti: José Luis González Uriol (Španjolska), Roman Perucki (Poljska), Mario Penzar (Hrvatska), Karen de Pastel (Austrija), Danijel Drilo (Njemačka), Gabriel Bestion de Camboulas (Francuska), Lorenzo Ghielmi (Italija) itd.
Završio je magistarski studij orgulja i sakralne glazbe (sa najvišim ocjenama - pohvala summa cum laude) na Akademiji za glasbo u Ljubljani u klasi prof. dr. sc. Maria Perestegija (orgulje), prof. Maksa Strmčnika (improvizacija) i prof. Ivana Florjanca (orguljaška kompozicija).
Za magistarski recital, izveden na orguljama franjevačke crkve u Ljubljani, dobio je Prešernovu nagradu.
Kao orguljaš korepetitor, improvizator i aranžer snimio je nekoliko CD-a. Bavi se skladanjem liturgijske, komorne, zborske i orguljaške glazbe te je pridruženi član Hrvatskog društva skladatelja i član Hrvatskog društva glazbenih umjetnika. Za svoj skladateljski rad dobio je dvije brončane nagrade na međunarodnom natječaju za nove skladbe "CRO PATRIA", 2018. i 2019. godine te dvije srebrne nagradu na natječaju Hrvatskog sabora kulture 2020. i 2022. namijenjene puhačkom orkestru. Jedan je od rijetkih hrvatskih orguljaša koji se aktivno bavi orguljaškom improvizacijom. Član je uredničkog vijeća znanstvenog časopisa za sakralnu glazbu Sveta Cecilija. Kao orguljaš nastupao je u BiH, Sloveniji, Austriji, Italiji, Češkoj, Njemačkoj i Mađarskoj a u Hrvatskoj je svirao na svim većim festivalima orguljaške glazbe (Orgulje Zagrebačke katedrale, Ciklus orgulje Heferer, Zvuci orgulja Zagrebačke katedrale, Ars organi Sisciae, Orguljaška baština otoka Visa, Orguljaške večeri u Požeškoj katedrali, Orguljski festival "Petar Nakić" itd.). Titularni je orguljaš bazilike Sv. Antuna Padovanskog na Sv. Duhu u Zagrebu a povremeno je svirao i u Zagrebačkoj katedrali.
U statusu docenta predaje kolegije Orgulje, Improvizacija te ostale srodne predmete na Institutu za crkvenu glazbu Katoličkog bogoslovnog fakulteta u Zagrebu.
